Velzyland is an expressive display typeface shaped by the rhythm of waves.

Velzyland originated from custom lettering for the CJ Type × Vast capsule collection. Vast is a surf lifestyle clothing company and the collection was design around the concept “Waves Connect Us All.” The letterforms echo the steep flowing slope of the waves at Velzyland, a famed surf break on Oʻahu’s North Shore—just a stones throw from CJ’s birthplace in Kahuku.

Velzyland isn’t just inspired by surfing culture—it embodies the rhythm of the waves within its very letterforms. Instead of mimicking vintange surf typography, its flowing contours and sharp stroke endings create a contemporary balance between organic movement and digital precision.

Designed as a "unicase" typeface, Velzyland is full of interchangeable upper- and lowercase alternates, allowing for fluid alternation between letterforms—perfect for logos, expressive headlines, or just to vary the texture of your typography.

Velzyland comes complete with an extended set of punctuation and accented characters supporting most Eastern and Western European languages.

Velzyland includes both tabular and proportional figures as well as currency symbols, basic math symbols, and punctuation.

To make use of the extreme slant angle of Velzyland, try using a diagonal baseline. This works especially well with extra tight letter spacing.

Velzyland’s letterforms vibrate at different frequencies depending on the tracking or letterspacing you choose, and they love to be animated!
